Enrollment in the courses required for the student teaching field experiences differs in accordance with the Washburn Education Student’s Major or Teaching Specialty.

Elementary Licensure (K-6) candidates should enroll in:
  1. ED 400 - Understanding the School (2);
  2. ED 405 - Classroom Management (1);
  3. ED 420 - Elementary Student Teaching (8) AND
  4. Appropriate course from the following:
    • ED 415 - 5-8th Grade Student Teaching (4) [Middle School Emphasis}
    • ED 430 - Birth-Grade 3 Student Teaching (4) [Early Childhood Emphasis] or
    • SE 456 - Special Education Practicum I (4) [Adaptive Special Education Emphasis]
Total = 15 credit hours


Elementary Licensure (K-6) Only candidates should enroll in:
  1. ED 400 – Understanding the School (2);
  2. ED 405 - Classroom Management (1);
  3. ED 420 - Elementary Student Teaching (12)
Total = 15 credit hours
Secondary Licensure (6-12 ) candidates should enroll in:
  1. ED 400--Understanding the School (2);
  2. ED 405- Classroom Management (1);
  3. ED 410--Secondary Student Teaching (12)
Total = 15 credit hours
All-levels Licensure (P-12 Art, Music, Foreign Language, or Physical Education majors) should enroll in:
  1. ED 400--Understanding the School (2)
  2. ED 405 - Classroom Management (1)
  3. ED 440 - P-12 Student Teaching (12)
Total = 15 credit hours
